K3

Five Day Class

My name is Barbara Davis and I’m a lot like the old woman who lived in the shoe, had so many children I didn’t know what to do. The Lord told me to “raise them” and that’s what I did. He blessed us with Margo, Marla, Matthew, and Mark (all under 5 years time). With His help, they all grew up to become (pretty) great adults. I married my husband Chet 46 years ago and he has been a wonderful man to spend my life with. We raised our children and helped raise many of their friends. Then we were blessed with 11 grandchildren which we both truly enjoy and if all goes well, come Christmas, our first great grandchild will arrive. What a blessing that will be!
I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 10 years old. I have tried to walk with Him everyday. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I can’t imagine life without Him.
Today, I am blessed with 19 three year olds here at The Oaks. Each day brings its own burdens, joys and surprises. I try to accept each with grace.
My favorite book of the Bible is Philippians because it is a book of joy and encouragement. May the peace of God be with each of you during this school year & always.

My name is Tonya Usery and I have been the K3F teacher assistant for 2 years.  I have been married for 15 years to Jamie and we have a wonderful daughter named Brooke, who is in the 2nd grade at the Oaks. I feel blessed to be working with such a wonderful christian family here at the Oaks.

Bible & Computer

My name is Skip Van Dyke and I have lived in the Charleston area of South Carolina for over 15 years.  My wife and I have always had a heart for youth. We hosted several youth Bible studies, spurring us further into ministry, and we eventually ended up attending Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta California.  Bible college was a great experience and soon after we returned to Summerville where we began a home study that soon blossomed.

The Bible study led to a fellowship and I was able to take part in planting a new church in the Summerville area. I served as head pastor there for over 4 years.  During that time I ran a small web publishing company called Synapse Press by which I produced web and graphic packages for local businesses.

My wife Kimberly and I are blessed with two girls, Jana and Koryn as well as two boys, Connor and Joshua.

7th and 8th Grades

Spanish & History

!Hola!, my name is Angela Adamian and this will be my second year as a Spanish teacher at The Oaks. Last year, I also taught 7th/8th grade math. This year I will teach 7th/8th grade history in addition to “espanol”. I feel most blessed to be here in response to God’s clear calling on my life to the field of education.

I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in Legal Studies/Italian. I also have a paralegal certificate in Corporate Finance/Business Law. I worked as a paralegal in a corporation and law firm before giving birth to three beautiful daughters; Jenna (19 years old), Anna (16 years old), and Julia (15 years old). Just prior to their birth, I became interested in early childhood education, took a graduate course in the subject coupled with other training courses and became licensed as a childcare provider in Massachusetts. As my daughters grew, my passion for teaching grew and I became very involved with their education which consisted of church school/home school studies. I have also done math/GED tutoring with Trident Literacy Association and am active as a preschool Sunday school teacher at SFWC, my home church.

In recent years, I’ve applied myself to my passion for foreign languages. My parents were born in Italy and Italian was spoken in my home. Learning Spanish in school came easily to me because the languages are both derived from Latin. As a result, I began working as a volunteer ESL teacher with Trident Literacy Association where many of my students are of a Hispanic background. I have many Spanish speaking friends which I gather with regularly.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy physical fitness and reading about nutrition and health (I am an active member at the YMCA). I also enjoy cooking, listening to music, and practicing songs at the piano.
